Well, this is a surprise! Somehow time has slipped and here we are in 2025! My plan is to post more on here, to keep you up to date with events and any book-related news. This New Year’s resolution comes as Trump and his oligarch mates begin their march to a fascist beat, prompting me to decide to delete Facebook, Messenger and WhatsApp. From now on if you want to contact me, you can do so through this website or via @mandyh.bsky.social (currently the only social media app I’ll be using (until the trolls come for this one too.) In the meantime, I wish you a happy, healthy and safe 2025.

What a fabulous launch last night at Unity Books in Wellington – a full house and so lovely to catch up with so many friends. Jenny Pattrick did a wonderful job launching the book, as did Harriet Allan, from Penguin Random House. I feel very lucky and now hope Heloise sails off happily into the world. If you read it and like it do let me know!

My latest novel, Heloise, will be launched in Wellington at Unity Books on the 15th May at 6pm, and another launch will be held at the Paraparaumu Library on May 31st at 7pm. You are all most welcome to come along and join the celebration.
I will also be appearing at the Auckland Writer’s Festival in May:
On Thursday 18th May I’ll be talking to schools about ‘Singing Home the Whale’ at 10.50am
and on Friday 19th May at 1pm I’ll be speaking about Heloise in a free public session in the Upper NZI Theatre at the Aotea Centre.
